The Environmental
Department does Phase I site assessments for personal property. The report includes a history of the
property, a description of the property, improvements needed to be made,
utility services found and the environmental setting, including topography,
geology and hydrogeology, and observations of the surrounding properties. |

Testing for Individual Substances |
|
The Department also
offers individual services for testing asbestos in houses, the presence of
lead in both indoor and outdoor paint on pre-1978 built houses, water quality
testing of the presence or absences of bacteria and heavy metals in personal
wells, and the presence of mold inside private property. |
|
Home Inspections |
|
A home inspection
assesses the mechanical and structural value of a property. This is usually done for real estate transactions at either the
realtor or home owner’s request. |
|
GPS Plotting |
|
Global Positioning System (GPS) plotting is
also available for individual properties.
Right now all the Department can do is take points on
the property and download them into the computer; in the future we’ll be able to create maps that
individuals can purchase. This will be
limited to the purchase of their own
personal property. |
