Essential Duties:       

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Responsible for completing work orders as assigned:  Typical duties may include, but are not limited to vacuuming, dusting, laundry, mopping, waxing, running errands, mowing and weed eating
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:           

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation
  • Be organized, dependable and a self-starter
  • Display tact, honesty and time management

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Standing, sitting, stooping and squatting

The Myaamia Project at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio is accepting applications for the following full-time, 12 month position: 

 

 

Internet Technologies (IT) Specialist

(12 month)

The IT specialist will serve as a member of the Myaamia Project team with a basic directive to serve the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s language and cultural development needs.  The primary function of this position will be to aid the Myaamia Project in developing internet technologies that allow tribal members greater access to the Myaamia Project, its research, and educational opportunities.  In addition, the IT specialist will maintain the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s web site and serve in an advisory capacity to the Tribe regarding any internet based technologies the Miami Tribe may be interested in developing.  The IT specialist will also be required to share technological knowledge and project information in a variety of educational environments on and off campus including lectures, classroom visitations, and possibly advise student research.  

 

The IT specialist must be able to identify technological needs, develop and oversee the completion of projects, and carry out technological solutions in a variety of environments.  Some of these environments include, but are not limited to, webpage development, database construction and maintenance, graphic design projects, basic office computer maintenance, and a variety of other technological challenges that may be presented by the need to disseminate Miami Indian language and cultural materials in a variety of formats.

 

This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of the Myaamia Project.

 

Minimum qualifications include a minimum of a B.A. in computer technology, communications, education, any related field, or can provide significant experience in related fields. 1-3 years experience working in a technological, educational or communication field; preference will be given to individuals who possess experience and/or extensive knowledge regarding language and cultural development in a tribal community setting. 12 month salary begins at 25k and is commensurate based on experience and the university offers an excellent benefit package.

This support comes in the form of extensive language and cultural research, educational material development, and direct work with the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s office of cultural preservation.  In addition to direct community work, the Myaamia Project is dedicated to assisting Miami University in creating diverse learning opportunities by involving undergraduate and graduate students in various research projects and visiting classes in order to share Miami Indian language and cultural information in culturally appropriate ways.  The Myaamia Project also supports and works directly with Tribal students attending Miami University.
