Mission Statement
Providing opportunities for Myaamiaki to share cultural knowledge with each other and their communities.
Founded in 2024, the Myaamia Heritage Foundation (MHF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established under the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma Non-Profit Corporations Act. The Foundation is dedicated to supporting the cultural revitalization efforts of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma.
MHF promotes and funds research that advances Myaamia cultural knowledge, supports Myaamia artists and scholars, and provides educational opportunities for both Myaamia citizens and the general public. Through its initiatives, the Foundation encourages greater awareness and understanding of Myaamia history, language, and traditions. MHF is committed to fostering cultural education, preserving Myaamia heritage, and strengthening community engagement through programs, events, and collaborative partnerships.

Projects
The MHF aims to engage in the support of, and potentially the management of projects that support the cultural and linguistic growth of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma, whether that be through means monetary support or through support of volunteer work. Here are projects that the MHF has supported so far:
Ongoing Projects:
- Monetary support for the printing of two educational children’s books. These books, created by Myaamia artist Megan Sekulich, are aimed at teaching language to children within the Myaamia community. The MHF hopes that with the monetary support for printing such books, we are helping to facilitate widespread dissemination of these publications. In the past, Miami Tribe of Oklahoma publications have reached thousands of households, and we believe that more publications such as these children’s books, help to solidify a future of culturally and linguistically knowledgeable Myaamiaki ‘Miami People.’
- Taste of The Arts festival. The MHF plans to support the presence of Myaamia artists at the Taste of The Arts festival in Ft Wayne Indiana in August 2025. This festival will help Myaamia artists gain recognition for their work, educate the broader community on what it means to be Myaamia as well as what is Myaamia art, as well as introduce ourselves to the community in Ft Wayne and Northern Indiana. This event meets our goals of outreach with our non-Myaamia and non-native neighbors in educating people of our presence, culture, and history.

Eugene Brown Memorial Art Show
$3750 was donated to the Eugene Brown Memorial Art show at the Myaamia Heritage Museum and Archive. These funds were used in the form of prize money for Myaamia artists who won in their respective categories of art. This contribution, we hope, helps to encourage future growth of the Eugene Brown Memorial Art Show and the continued excellence of Myaamia artists and their productions.

Crete Public Library
$4000 was donated to the ‘Awakening – A Sacred Story of Contemporary Myaamia Art’ at the Crete (Illinois) Public Library. These funds supported the exhibition and the costs for travel of artists and delivery of various objects of Art. The MHF believes, similar to our support of the Eugene Brown Memorial Art Show, that supporting events that highlight Myaamia revitalization, greatly support our overall goals of supporting cultural and linguistic growth within the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma.
